The system for the acquisition of the geometry and wear of the overhead line (SAGU) is an indispensable tool that measures:
Absolute height, calculated as the distance between the contact wire and the running surface;
Relative height, calculated as the distance between the contact wire and the vehicle’s roof top;
Slope on span base, calculated as the ratio between the difference in wire height (at two adjacent spans) and the distance between two spans themselves;
Slope on a 5m basis, calculated as the slope of the straight line expressed in mm/m calculated by linear interpolation over a minimum number of 51 samples;
Absolute polygonation, represents the distance between the projection of the contact wires on the rolling plane and the longitudinal axis of the track;
Relative polygonation is the distance between the projection of the contact wires on the vehicle’s imperial and the longitudinal axis of the measuring vehicle body;
Residual thickness of the contact wire, represents the residual part of the wire.
